2014/06/18 Keelung Corruption Case

Corruption allegations against Keelung City Council Speaker Huang Ching-tai are presenting yet another challenge to the KMT this election season. Huang is accused of pressuring city officials into letting builders JSL Group and Highwealth Construction proceed with projects without following requisite procedures.

Anti-corruption prosecutors who searched Huang’s office and home yesterday found NT$5 million in cash. Another seven officials and businesspeople were also questioned over their involvement in the case. Six were given bail of NT$30,000-NT$100,000 and one was released without bail.
